Job Description

Fluid Domains is looking to hire a junior or intermediate groundwater modeller to join our team. Responsibilities would include: developing scripts to facilitate the management of time-series data; participating in all aspects of numerical modelling including construction, calibration, forward predictions and uncertainty analysis; interfacing directly with clients; and reporting. Fluid Domains is a boutique consulting company based out of the Calgary area. We provide service to all sectors requiring hydrogeological support including energy, consulting companies, municipalities, mining, policy development, and expert testimony. We are focused on delivering high-quality technical work to our clients. We are constantly trying to improve our products and efficiency by either adopting methods from peer-reviewed research or developing our own solutions. 

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • A university degree in hydrogeology, geophysics, or related field.
  • A desire to learn from, and work with, a team of experienced modellers.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • An innate desire to do high quality work.
  • Experience with SQL and Python.

The ideal candidate would have many, or all, of the following qualifications:

  • One to five years of experience as a consultant.
  • A graduate degree in hydrogeology, geophysics, or related field.
  • An academic background in numerical modelling.
  • An academic background in non-linear inversion.
  • Knowledge of geostatistics.
  • Experience with water supply, wastewater disposal and carbon sequestration.
  • Ability to apply for professional membership with APEGA.
